Sorry for the radio-silence around here. I am currently enjoying a little vacation time before my next, hectic fall semester. I have officially completed my first year of graduate school, and in three days, I will have been a Lubbock-ite for an entire year. I spent last week at home in Houston, and now my mom and I are visiting family in the northeast and spending a few days in New York City.
The old cliche that time passes fast is so true- it is crazy how much can change in a year.
And my little blog is turning two years old today. Since this is the closest I will come to having a child for quite a while, I thought a little celebration was in order. I may have to order an extra dessert while I am here in New York. Here’s to you, Cinnamon Freud! Thanks for helping keep me sane these past two years.
Enjoy some of my favorite blog recipes and celebrate with me! Each of these dishes bring back lots of good memories.
Creamy, salt, and sweet. This is a perfect fancy dip.
I had to include an Ina Garten recipe on this list- she helped inspired me to start cooking new things. Roasted Potato soup is a better version of any potato soup you have eaten. How bad can that be?
These sausage cups are a once-a-year Christmas treat for our family. And I won’t lie, sometimes I am looking forward to these most on Christmas. Forget those cookies Santa left behind, these are the better choice.
This Mont Cristo is my homemade take on the deep-fried goodness I have eaten out at restaurants. A great sweet and salty combo that can be eaten any time of day.
Another Ina Garten recipe- the first recipe I ever made of hers. Actually, I first made my mom make it back when I did not know how to cook (let her tell you of a time I cooked canned BBQ beans in the microwave for 11 minutes). So wonderful.
This makes a lot of pork- and you will be glad for it. I ate this for 3-4 days straight and was still sad when there were no more leftovers.
This is literally the best burger I have ever eaten. Grinding your own meat really does make a huge difference. And the sweet and salty sauce? Forgeddaboutit.
My mom’s cheesy potatoes tend to be one of the more popular recipes on my blog- and for good reason. But don’t tell her I said that, she’ll just get a big head. 🙂
These bars are so simple and wonderful: Oreos, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk. I have always meant to share these, but they never quite make it out the door…
This is as good as any piece of cheesecake I ate in New York. So. Good.
When asked the best thing I have ever ate, I hemmed and hawed, but when I had to make a decision, it was this crack pie.
Whoa!! Happy two years! That is no easy feat, girl!!
Congratulations on two years! Love your recipe roundup. I’m off to pin several of them.
