Dill Dip

This dill dip is a family holiday classic- one of my favorite parts of our holiday meals is this dip.  If you want evidence of how good this dip is, I ate it for four days in a row after we made it for Thanksgiving.  And I am looking forward to having it again soon for Christmas.

Dips are notoriously easy to make, and they are some of the best party food.  No need to buy storebought dip when it can be easily made at home.  So if you are hosting a holiday dinner this year or need to bring something to a potluck, this dip is an easy, quick recipe that is sure to satisfy.  You can even try to split the work with someone and have them cut up the vegetables while you perform the “tough” work of making a homemade dip (just a tip from one lazy friend to another).  The trick with dips is to make them the night before you plan to eat them.  This way you leave the dip in the refrigerator overnight, and the flavors meld together. Then take it out and serve it with vegetables, crackers, or chips

From my Mom, via my Aunt

1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons onion flakes, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons parsley flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
1 1/2 teaspoons dried dill weed
In a large bowl combine all ingredients.  Stir until evenly mixed.  Refrigerate overnight.
Serve with vegetables, crackers, or chips.
