This recipe seems like nothing special, but I promise you that it is delicious!
Five spice powder is a great spice in my eyes. It’s a mix of sweet and savory, which I love. Pork is such a versatile meat, and I love the combination of pork with a sweet & savory rub or sauce. It is good on it’s own, good leftover on a sandwich, over rice- basically, just make this!
1 pork tenderloin (about 1 pound)
For the Rub:
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon five spice powder
Kosher salt and black pepper
For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare broiler pan and spray with cooking spray.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, five spice powder, salt, and pepper. Rub evenly over pork tenderloin. Place pork tenderloin on broiler pan.
Bake about 20-30 minutes, until pork is 140°F.
In a small bowl, combine hoison and sesame oil. Brush over partially baked tenderloin. Bake an additional 20-30 minutes, until pork is 160°F.
